關於作者
Alan Thein Durning 為看守世界研究中心(Worldwatch Institute) 的資深研究員，專注於探討環境劣化與社會及經濟不平等間的關係。Durning先生是How much is enough? 及The Consumer Society and the Future of the Earth （為W.W. Norton & Co., 1992出版）的作者；及為研究中心每年出版的State of the World （世界徵象）環境報告的共同作者；及與Ruth Leger Sivard共同合著World Military and Social Expenditures, 1990-91（為World Priorities, 1990-91出版）。
在前面五本看守世界專論的書中，他是Poverty and the Environment: Reversing the Downward Spirl（本書獲1989年World Hunger Media Award書展的頭獎）及Action at the Grassroots: fighting Poverty and Environment Decline 的作者或共同作者。他的文章曾被登在Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, Technology Review，及為Worldwatch雙月刊的作者。
Durning君於Oberlin學院及音樂學院獲得哲學及音樂學位。他與他的太太及小孩住在馬利蘭蘭州Takoma park市。
